Hello, friends and family!
I'm excited to share some big news with you -- I have officially signed on to run (ummm...run, hike, walk, crawl, whatever it takes to cross the finish line) my first-ever ultra marathon in support of Challenge Aspen! This 54k run is part of the Dalmatia Ultra Trail race series and will take place on Oct. 19, 2019 from Makarska to Omis, Croatia! To be completely honest, this is much farther than I've ever dreamed of running and it will be a huge challenge for me --- but "challenge" is in the name and I'll be running for those who can't, and that's reason enough to make it happen. So here goes! This is my second time joining the Challenge Aspen marathon team (my first was in Reykjavík, Iceland in 2011 where I ran my first marathon) and I’m proud to be participating on behalf of this amazing organization.
Challenge Aspen provides year-round adaptive experiences for individuals faced with cognitive and/or physical disabilities. Challenge Aspen's incredible staff, volunteers and instructors help to create life-changing opportunities for participants by encouraging them to join activities designed to redefine limits, recognize abilities and transfer newfound courage to everyday life.
I originally committed to raising $3,750 for Challenge Aspen, and I'm absolutely thrilled to report that, thanks to many generous contributions, I was able to reach that goal (as of Aug. 6, 2019)! That said, I’m not ready to stop. I'm continuing to train hard and increase my mileage, and I feel as though my fundraising should mirror those efforts. So, in hopes of raising more money for Challenge Aspen, I’ve decided to go big and double my fundraising goal with a new target of $7,500! I'd be most appreciative of your support on any level - and it would mean so much to Challenge Aspen. No donation is too small. Contributing to the marathon team will help fund scholarships, adaptive equipment, training, mentorship and more to create possibilities for people with disabilities. Challenge Aspen is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, so your donation will be tax deductible.
